Ingredients
2 cups apple cider vinegar
1 ½ cups water
½ cup ketchup (optional)
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients.

Whisk well to blend the vinegar, spices, and optional ketchup.

Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

Stir occasionally and cook for 10 minutes to develop flavor.

Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

Store in an airtight glass container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
For a milder version, reduce the red pepper flakes to ½ tablespoon.
Chill for 24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to mature.
